I think what you'll see is a burst of speculative buying from GW by people who immediately try to flip it over onto eBay. Followed by a crash for minis of limited interest. Eventually, the prices will come back and plateau. If they're high enough, you'll see the occasional recasts mixed in. Much like we see for other in-demand minis like HE Swordmasters, dragon princes, Juan Diaz steeds of slaanesh, etc.

Of course, the speculators might well end up sitting on a load of metal. I see loads of HE and UD warmaster minis sitting on ebay all the time looking for a home. Either they ask for too much and don't sell, or have to unload below retail price. Or they're reduced to shenanigans like making false claims that their minis are discontinued. I suppose now that they are discontinued, the price on widely available stuff like that will go up.

The key unknown is how the other manufacturers will react. If someone like a Eureka jumps in and fills the niches that GW has dominated, then the rare/OOP GW minis will still be premium items. If Warmaster and 10mm (not the same thing, obviously) both die out, then the prices will drop as people give up and sell their collections.

Forgeworld Tau for BFG is going for 4x roughly. I was on yesterday and one battleship was selling for £77. Dollars ::) for some reason it keeps changing the icon to pounds :/.

I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

It's even more crazy when you consider how awful those Wave Serpent sculpts are.  At least the originals from second edition look good.  I can't believe that anyone would pay that much for those things.

On Ebay UK alone, about £3000 has been spent on BFG auctions in the past 7 days. There are some truly insane bids going in as well as some bargain 'buy it now' which I've regrettably missed out on.

I was one of the people who pushed the bid up that high, and the reason- A pack of 2 of those wave serpents direct from GW here are $33 AU. That's over 21 pounds, and that's after the Aussie dollar has been dropping in price for a week.

So I consider 4 of them for that price a decent bargain  :(

Someone scored...

BFG is going absolutely nuts! Seems to be worst in the UK.

BFG Apocalypse Battleship: £129.89/  US $196.64

On the other hand, yesterday on eBay I picked up shrink wrapped gang box boxes of Orlocks and Goliaths for $22 each and an Escher gang box for $33

New edition revenant titans went for £50. =-<

I've got a spare pair of FW warhounds at least - the thing is that I just want to swap, not swell and inflate the market.  There are some obvious scalpers on ebay at the minute, people suddenly selling the kind of stock FW was running down last month.

the most interesting thing is to see how people sell things on ebay labeled as "OOP! RARE!", but which still are available the regular way.

example: vengeance grand cruiser. is already above normal price on ebay, and i ordered one on the GW website, and it was sent yesterday, no problems.
Nova Cannons are for these sissies who as a kid too preferred to throw stones at the others from a safe distance rather than closing in and get into a real fight ;D

Well, very, very soon now they'll be right.

It's a touch frustrating, on this side of the pond, to see BFG selling on ebay.com for pretty reasonable prices without the option of international shipping, compared to the crazy amounts stuff is going for in the UK.

Some of the Epic stuff seems to be going for stupid amounts - but I just won 4 crossbow units and 1 pistolier unit for Warmaster Empire for only £20 or so!

Yeah, ebay's a bit strange at the moment. I've just picked up a dwarf character pack, a flame cannon and a unit each of warriors, thunderers, rangers and slayers for less than £20! Result!

Positives: Getting a ramilies, battlebarge and repulsives for not-crazy prices from a forum.

Negatives: $120 of eldar ships unsent after two weeks, with the seller messing me around (5 missed shipping promises).
