Good Proxy for Giants.....
« on: May 14, 2013, 01:29:12 PM »
the WM catalogue is a great resource, however organising it by manufacturer means a lot of trawling is required to find things..... perhaps a list of WM units, with links to suitable proxies would make life easier.... (if this was already discussed, please disregard my comments, the work that has been done already is awesome and I mean no disrespect to people who have given up their time compiling it!)

I've fallen in love with the copplestone miniatures for orcs and ogres/trolls, however I'm coming up blank looking for a suitable model to use as a giant for my greenskin forces, the pendraken one is pretty horrendous, and I haven't found anything else

any suggestions?

For giants there is a wide variety of 28m figures that cuold be ok. When I search for giant figures I always look to the base, that fit in 20x40 (short frontage).

I have a couple of old granadiers figures to use as giants and I like them a lot.

About the WM catalogue I think is good to use the market references, because is wide to any army fantasy ancient or fan list.

To find figures, people can ask and the figures could be quickly linked using the catalogue. Of course, posting in the catalogue threat, impressions and pictures can help to others.

Stormwind, I do rate it, however at this point in time, I have blown my hobby budget on panic buying epic and warmaster.... it's currently unavailable in the UK and I haven't got the money to have someone 'mule' it from the USA for me..... I fear by the time I have money available, it will be long gone....

I have a *personal theory* that GW will wrap up SGs at the end of May, I think they're trying to clear as much stock as they can, before canning it.... those are my personal opinions and in no way are they anything more than a guess really.....

Well I don't collect O&G, I collect HE, Empire, Dwarves and Chaos, so I'm not desperate to keep it is why I mention it.

Do you by any chance have anything you'd swap it for?

I'm afraid not, I'm in the process of building my armies at the moment, Dwarfs and O&G..... plus I just thinned out my epic collection so the cupboard is pretty bare right now..... :(

Hrrm, would you be willing to buy something of equivalent value from GW in order to swap?  Like a Chaos Dragon or chariots?

I started painting orcs yesterday and was thinking about giants. I own like 2 or 3 but was thinking about replacements. I thought about using a warhammer fantasy squig as a giant. what do you guys think?

Someone here was using the Ushabti from the Warhammer Tomb Kings range as Bone Giants and that worked nicely.  I'd say it would have to be a big squig!

Well I'd be happy to send you the giant for now if you're desperate to get one?  Then maybe you could owe me £8.70 + a 1.50 or whatever it is for P&P for when your finances are better.  I was angling for the Chaos Dragon / Chariots as I figure they'll vanish in the next month! ^.^;
