Empire Cannons 2+b
« on: June 24, 2013, 04:53:25 PM »
Hi,
back at the specialist forum, I'd like to ask my first question:

How do cannons work:

1) You have 2 attacks per stand with no save?

2) Does every stand have a bounce attack? So an infantry unit in a "deep formation" gets 4+4 hits from a great cannon formation? Or 4+2 ? The rules update does confuse me a bit.

Thanks in advance,
Hans

Each Stand of cannons gets 2 attacks on the closest enemy stand that it can see. drawing a straight line from the cannon to target and measure 5cm from the rear edge of that stand, every stand crossed by that 5cm takes 1 'bounce' attack. If you hit an brigade with deep enough ranks you can inflict 2+3 attacks (though these could well be split between upto 4 units!) Given that both cannon will almost always be fired at the same target that quickly mounts up and can be devastating.

Remember also, cannon reduce any cover provided by defended or fortified positions.

Ok, each stand gets the bounce, that is pretty awesome!

Two cannon are cool. Escort with two cheap missile units and use orders to limit Los to ideal targets.

My 2k dwarf lists frequently use two units of cannon... Under that I generally use none, as it limits my mobility with out a corresponding killing increase.
