Orcs vs High Elves
« on: October 15, 2013, 04:21:26 PM »
I'm getting back into Warmaster, had some free time on my hands, so I though, why not fight a small battle to catch up with the rules.

I made 2 1000 point lists, orcs, and high elves.

Orcs:

General
orc hero
orc shaman
3 x warriors
3 x goblins
1 x trolls
1 x ogres
1 x black orcs
3 x wolf riders

High elves:
General
Wizard
4 x Spearmen
3 x Archers
2 x Chariots (forgot to put one unit on the table. :P)
1 x Giant Eagles

The battle was fought on a 120x120cm table

Some pictures, don't mind the not-yet-painted table. :)

The orc battle line advancing:

The Elves are forming up:

Orcs advancing towards the village:

The right flank of the elves failed to move for two turns, leaving the chariot in a very sticky situation:

The left flank however, is trying to find the best positions around the village:

And from there, rain death upon the stinking greenskins, the orcs, not used to the uncanny accuracy of the elves, panicked and broke formation. Only the trolls were too stupid to see what was going on while the rest of the orcs and goblins got confused.

However, the orc general, being very inspiring (certainly certain death after failure didn't have anything to do with it) got the rabble into formation again, and managed to pull off a charge against the elves.

the wolf riders on the other flank, however, got frightened by the raging chariots and horses, and stopped mid-charge.

To the utter right of the orc battleline, wolf riders managed to throw the elves into confusion with their shortbows

The elves, arrogant as ever, underestimated the orcs, and never knew what hit them. The whole brigade lies dead in the fields.

The chariots barged into the wolf riders, and got some help from the eagles...:

..but they were quickly pushed back by the goblins, who were probably fighting for their lives in fear of being eaten by the goblins

Quickly, they were overrun by the orcs.. meeting a sad end.

This is were the high elves retreated. Underestimating the orcs was a bad idea.

It is a pleasure seeing your armies in such great table!

Also find very interesting the choice of the configuration of both armylist. Both of them have a strong influence of infantry but with balance type of troops. A pitty that elf player forgot the chariot.

Great battle report and thanks for sharing!

Thanks all!

I agree, it's nice when people take time to write a fun report with pictures. I'd love to see more of that too!  :)
