Skyrocketing Warmaster prices....
« on: October 21, 2013, 11:10:39 PM »
I'm just getting back into Warmaster after a year away and can't believe some of the Warmaster prices on ebay!

The basic armies High Elves, Empire, Tomb Kings and to a lesser extent Chaos, Dwarfs and Orcs are still fairly reasonably priced. However, the variant armies are starting to sell for some crazy prices. Here's a couple of the most recent Warmaster auctions.

*Please note all prices are in USA $ and these are mainly mint in blister items.

Skaven Character pack - $100.00
Lizardmen Character pack - $63.21
Bretonnian Mounted squire - $64.73
Lizardmen Salamanders - $61.00
Lizardmen Skinks - $49.95
Skaven Warplightning Cannon - $43.77

Some of the rarer items are going for insane prices

Emperor Dragon - $232.50
Zepplin - $147.46
Casualty Markers - $13148
Wizard's Castle - $129.50
Dwarf Hammerers - $93.77
Crested Stegadon - $84.00

I can't get over some of the prices for some items! But I guess it comes down to supply and demand. If there are people willing to pay the above prices I can only imagine how much they will raise over the next couple years.

I hope new manufaturers come up with new 10mm lines to fill the gap (and I would rather support those efforts than buy from ebay)

Yep, that is the best we can hope : To be able to get rid of GW. Pendrakken etc can only beneficate of the end of SpeGames... Let's hope they will have the capacity and will to take GW's place in the 10mm range.

But note to that :

Dwarf Hammerers - $93.77
Zepplin - $147.46

Are really cheap prices. Zepp was sold for 80£ when still available. I have seen it go for 300$ only too years ago. And hammerers reached more than 370 $ at the same era.

The rare items were already going for that before SG went because they were already super rare.

I would say old oop prices are the same than last year, more or less. I have noted some are cheaper, but few. And others have jumped of course.

The actual surprise is the price of old armies only available from the Games Workshop's VPC : Bretonnians, Dark Elves, Vampires, Lizardmen, Daemons, Skavens...

For those armies, approx all the blisters have jumped to a price over frequently 20£. Even 30£ can be a common price for some crucial units in those armies.

I'm unsure if those price will stay. I was hoping they would be back at less than that today, but time has proved i was wrong.

The good new could be that some people wanting to go into warmaster for long time now, seeing the figs where discontinued, has jumped on to seize what could be still found. Prices have jumped, but maybe those people will add to our community. Or not.

There are now 5 people in my group looking for Warmaster blisters - but they have accepted their rarity and have been looking to Kalistra / Copplestone etc. for their major units for Dwarves / Orcs etc.

A person paying $40 for a Skaven warp lightning cannon has obviously not read the army list... Yikes.

Dwarf Hammerers - $93.77
.....

with the amount of the two "rare" dwarf units ever produced and the fact that AFAIK they where never packaged for retail........  how does one get a MIB unit of Hammerers.....??

You cast one yourslef and then glue it into a carefully pre prepared old warmaster blister that is in mint condition?.......

I suspect that this is the 'spike' in prices as collectors try and finish off their collections and others try to finish off their armies. By another 2 years or so I suspect the prices will fall considerably as the other ranges take over and expand to fill the gaps.

Just glad I've got everything I could ever really want from the ranges now - but its taken me 10 years of collecting and its my biggest lead mountain. Now, can I paint all that 10mm before my eyesight goes?....

given the insane prices some stuff is fetching i am actually tempted to sell off a lot of my stuff and replace it with equally good (sometimes better) proxy units from other manufacturers

It is a supply and demand issue. Whatever is listed doesn't matter, but what it sells at. When demand goes down prices will follow. Look at Babylon Wars, prices are very low.

I had a deal with a friend and he tried to charge me more after getting on ebay. But oh well.
