proxy ideas: Ogre Kingdoms

Not a massive amount of choice but as individual units tend to cost a lot of points, I guess you don't need that many units to make an army!

Bull Ogres:
Evil giants from Kallistra's Accessory range
http://www.kallistra.co.uk/index.php?page=19#anchor1accesf
15mm Orcs from Miriliton
http://www.mirliton.it/index.php?cName=fantasy-15-mm-orks
Armoured Greater Orcs from Magister Militum
http://www.magistermilitum.com/product.asp?numRecordPosition=6&P_ID=857&strPageHistory=cat&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=159

Leadbelchers:
None found.

Ironguts:
None found.

Yhetees:
Trolls from Kallistra's Orc range
http://www.kallistra.co.uk/index.php?page=19#anchor1accesf
15mm Snow Trolls from Copplestone
http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=FM
At 24mm tall these are large figures. On the other hand you get 3 in a pack, so one figure per base and you've got a full unit.
15mm Hill Trolls from Magister Militum, 4 to a pack
http://www.magistermilitum.com/product.asp?numRecordPosition=1&P_ID=9960&strPageHistory=cat&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=1492

Gnoblars:
None found.

Rhinox Riders:
Eureka do Woolly Rhinos (6 in a pack)which look good but you'd need to source riders
http://eurekamin.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=87_100_101&products_id=10835

Gorgers:
None found.

Slave Giant:
Giant with mace from Ironwind
http://ironwindmetals.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=8016
Magog the Hill Giant from Copplestone
http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=FM

I was thinking that perhaps some 15mm ghouls or apes of some kind might work for Gorgers.

Leadbelchers:
http://www.freewebstore.org/Abomination/Ogre_Cannoneers/p1322681_9383023.aspx

The more of us buy them, the more likely E&C is to make some more! =-)

EDIT:

I am of the opinion that the more hunched / small Hobit goblin town warriors in plastic would make excellent Gorgers.  They are misshapen with large eyes and big teeth and designed to be painted in pallid colours.

Not exactly proxies, but here's what I have squirreled away for this army:

Bull Ogres - regular WM Ogres
Leadbelchers - the more lightly armored WM Ogres with a cannon I converted to be held by them (need to cast it up)
Ironguts - the more heavily armored WM Ogres with O&G chariot wheels as shields
Yhetees - WM Trolls (same stats, only the special rules are different)
Gnoblars - lots (and lots...) of O&G Chariot crew
Rhinox Riders - these with some Ironguts on top
Gorgers - BoFA Hill Trolls
Slave Giant - O&G Giant, alternatively this

In an older thread here, the Malifaux Wendigo was suggested as a great Yhetee, but it would cost you a lot of money to make a unit of 3 out of them!

Rhinox riders? I guess it depends on how big the riders are in comparison to infantry figures.
There again, £4.95 for a unit of 3, what's not to like?

The website says '23 mm, trotter to eye'.  But I have one and I it is 20mm from base to top of its head.  Hope that helps.

Gone, I'm afraid, the chap who did them ran into trouble with the Defeat in Detail line.

Defeat in detail?

Well I'm happy I bought an ogre army from him before that, now they're a gorgeous rarity :)

Defeat in detail?

it was his 6mm range produced after the demise of Specialist Games, he suffered all kinds of production woes and bad luck and IIRC lost a fair chunk of money on the whole thing, (also I think he got sick and tired of packing and sending eleventy billion parcels every day!) so he sold the business, the range is now available from and being expanded by, Vanguard miniatures

I remember an excellent range of Ogres that was made available through this forum some years ago- it had Bulls and Leadbelchers, and may have also had Ironguts (or they were 'coming soon'). I can't remember too many details, but they may have been made by Evil and Chaos?
I know E&C doesn't produce many of his old sculpts anymore (a huge shame), so would it be too wrong of a friendly forumite to recast them?

@Geep

These are the ones we're talking about.  Abomination was his webstore name.  He only made the Bulls and Leadbelchers available, showed some screenshots of WIP rhinox riders and so on, but his bread and butter was doing Epic and there weren't enough orders to warrant him doing the full range that he planned.

Ah- thanks, and damn. Too much of E&C's awesome stuff has only briefly seen the light of day, if ever.
