I don't really know, i bought them with a lot of figs few years ago. Never used them before.

But if you want my opinion they are nice but not the best types. I prefer those from TimeCast for example :

They are nearly similar but not exactly the same. TimeCast one's branches are a little bitt less straight.

Type "Tree 10mm" on ebay and you will see some few interesting things. And if you scroll down the ebay page, you will see things that approx matches the research, and you have plenty of trees from various sellers and types.

New advances...

Test with the figs to see how high are bases. And where are areas with missing artificial stone.

And then new AS additions.

I painted again and... Bad surprise. New Artificial Stone posed (with metalic precise tool) was not same aspect as former one (quickly applied with finger)

So i had too add some new AS with finger to blur the limits.

Better but not yet perfect.

I wanted to keep the tent removable but i could not find a wai to have the Artificial Stone in contact with it. So i finaly glued it on the base.

And applied AS everywhere around very very carefully with a very precise tool.

And glued the first fig. Base is huge, but as the base of the tree is high too, it will not be difficult to equalise surface between the two.

I could add an other fig, distant from the first. It should not be a problem to paint the bases of those two.

And a third, for same reasons.

And here is the scenery after one layer of graveyard Earth. No more time to continue for now.

Thanks :)

I don't know yet how i will represent grass. I would like the tent to be in the middle of a grassy field, and to add some muddy emplacements (under horses and at entries), but i don't know yet how i will proceed. Classical flocage grass will be too high i think. And simple painting won't do it.

If someone here have proposals...

You can always glue on a common type of static grass, then trim it with small scissors once it has dried in place?

Do you have any kind of grinder, or even a dremel tool? I've found Warmaster strip bases a bit thick before too but, so long as you're careful, they can be ground down.

Another idea- I doubt the general would be too happy about mud being trampled into his tent. Maybe you could add dead coloured static grass to the mud mix and apply that around the entrances (making sure to push the grass flat)? Enough dead grass does make a bit of an 'anti-mud' doormat.

I was considering seriously that, but i did not dare to propose it... Afraid to be considered as a dangerous fanatic :D

Yes i have a Dremel. I had considered that too, but due to painting job achieved, i was reticent to try... But i may attempt to do it for biggest and in the foreground models, such as the second horse.

Do you read in my mind ? :)

For practicing reconstitution, i can tell you the entrance of a tent never keep dry. It always ends in mud. And above that principe, it would bring a change in the base itself, and add a nice change in the ground. I don't like when everything is perfectly the same.

Mixing grass to my Artificial Stone is an idea i did not thought of. It could work, but i think the grass will mostly agregate with the glue and sand, and it will not result in a lightly grassy ground. But more probably a strange mix.

I will try that but i'm not very confident. But many thanks for the proposal !

I keep on the idea to glue and then cut the grass. Considering the surface, i will have to buy new fingers before the end...

Testing stait grass and a place for fire on the right. Not really satisfied with grass...

It always makes everything under it disapear. Sanding, painting, landscape relief... Everything is "grassy" after that.

Marell, it looks fine to me - long-ish meadow grass that will be trampled down and turn to mud as people come and go to the tent.

I'm a little bit afraid that if i covr the whole bse with this static grass (but the passage ways), it will cncel every relief and ground detail. Even figs, in the middle of this grass, looks hidden.

What is the surface of your table like?

You could glue a ring of static grass around the tent base so that it matches the table (assuming you have an all-grassy table), then just glue patches of grass (like the current one) on the rest of the base. That way you'd still have some clear areas of ground to see your painting efforts, and by where and how thick you make the grass you could add to the story of the scene.

For example, it may be good to leave a ring of clear dirt around the tent, showing the damage done to the grass when the tent was first set up. Additionally, I'd expect guards to patrol around the tents sometimes- they'd have warn a path.
Around the horses there should be varied grass within range of a rope + horse length. Anywhere the horse could get its head to would be completely grass free (they eat a lot), the rest of the area would be light to no grass, due to trampling.

If you do go with the grass trimming idea I'd suggest you save your fingers and get an electronic shaver- set it very low, then shave your grass. Just give it a very good rinse afterwards if you intend to use it on your face...

Reminded me of something I saw a while ago, electrostatic flocking... Have you come across or used that before?

This simple tissu with green motifs. I more or less plan to build a textured surface from a tissu, with a flexible glue, but i still have to do it.

Even if i don't have the static grass table, i'm on this idea for now. Not because of the painting job i did on the ground, wich is really basic, but for the general aspect. A complete static grass surface cancel any other work done on ground.

More precisely, and considering the tent is not here for a long time, i think grass is still here just at the tissu level. Nobody walk just along the tent, because of the shrouds. And mounting this type of tent is not that long too. So i don't think people will have trampled every piece of grass just in the direct area.

About guards walking around, you're right. They would have done a complete path with no grass, or at least trampled grass, wich is the same for us.

Completly agreed.

I plan to see if i can find a nose hairs shaver. They are thin enough to do more or less what i want i hoper. I'm balancing between taking time to test all that and continuing next week end.

I had heard about that technic, but never saw it. Interesting link, thanks a lot.

I'm not sure it solves my problem but it could help... If i can find this shaver.
