Well I would certainly like to, I have yet to broach the issue with the wife as chances are if I do, she will get wind of the fact that I'm squirrelling money away to buy a copy... But I would very much like to be able to spend the day in my local GW store, play SH a couple of times, start assembling the models and maybe even get a bit of paint on some of them, perhaps starting with a Gene Stealer, or maybe I'll try various schemes on s GS boxed set or something first? Always fancied doing a 'nid army as it happens...

Definitely not.
I haven't frequented my local store since the game was out.
Too many screaming brats and that is just the staff  :P

I will be playing my copy when it arrives this week.
I have 25 stealers painted and waiting.
:)

Oh you are a grouch, having the kids in the store means that there's always someone to get you a fresh coffee or cheeseburger when mid-game or in the middle of painting. Besides, it would make a nice change for me to be in a store and the youngest person there being twelve instead of my usual two, as I've almost always got my girls in tow and can do nothing more than buy a book and have a brief chat with the staff or older 'regulars'...

Actually going to my local store is the closest thing I've got to a social life, how sad is that? I'm in dire need of a wargames club within ten minute's walk that runs during the day at weekends...

Anyway, just popped in and have pre-ordered my copy. I needed to pay cash in-store and get it delivered to the store so that I don't get caught out by the wife with the box arriving on Saturday. I probably won't be able to pick it up until next week though, but at least I've definately got a copy. Incidentally I've looked inside the box they've got open, and not only does it weigh a tonne, but the figures are very, very, very nice indeed... They're also running a terminator conversion-painting comp on the day, the winner(s) getting the Terminators or Genestealers from the store's box, sadly they're not painting their copy up, nor keeping it. I might see if I can blag the floor tiles after the weekend actually....

Anyway on the subject of Space Hulk, whatever happened to that guy from the old forum who was putting together those 3d board sections? They were bloody nice IIRC...

You are right I am a grouch 8)

Just been into my local GW store and had a look at their painted stealers, the models look very nice.
But then got hasseled if I needed any help  >:(
"I was painting terminators boy when you still had your hands in your nappy" ;)

As for a games club, there is definitely a niche market for this sort of thing.
Not everyone has the luxury of being able to ditch the wife/husband and kids once or twice a week of an evening or get to 2 day tournanments :(

I, for one, hope we see a resurrection of some of the other race rules that emerged for version 1.
I loved playing Harlequins against marines :) and the new harlequin sculpts are very nice.
I will have to see what I can dig out.

Well, nothing 'official' is likely to ever appear, GW have pointedly said that they are doing a limited run and that's it. In fact I expect that the models are actually a handy by-product of the work that GW are obviously doing for the new Blood Angels. I'd wager that many of the details that we are seeing on these absolutely bloody lovely figures will find their way onto the BA sprue when it comes out...

Anyway, my point is that if they're never going to do a 2nd run, then they are highly unlikely to ever release any supplements, expansion articles in WD and so on. Indeed you need only look at the complete lack of meaningful support for the SG range to see that as far as GW are concerned, they have 'learnt their lesson', and rather than have the support for a time that tails away, or the promise of continued support that ends up fizzling out. They are right from the outset saying that the game has a limited life-span, which does of course not bode at all well for our own particular favourites...

Saying that, it does make me want to try my hand at sculpting some 10mm Terminators and Genestealers for a set of Travel Space Hulk...

I won't but we will be playing later as Saturday we have family coming in town. :( I have one set preordered and my buddy did the same. I am thinking about getting one for for good measure.

We will be working in Space Hulk soon but we are currently playing 40K Death Squads.

So I spent about 3-4 hours in my local store today, and well it's the most fun I've had since the WM one-dayer at the Civil Service club, but unfortunately without the beer. I got to play two games (both were the first scenario), the first as 'stealers, and killed all but two of the Marines, and then as one of the squads of Marines and we managed to only lose three Marines between us.

I'm very tempted to set a map up on my desk and play a game against myself tonight. Hardly ideal, but I'm already starting to get SH withdrawal...
