Hello.
After many years of hosting tournaments, a point-system to determine the over-all outcome of the battle has emerged.
It takes into account your killings of enemy units, your own units that survived, in which turn the break comes (if it does) and "the winner" gets awarded.
The background comes from a need to find a way to show the battle-outcome, in a way more "close-to-battlefield"-review then just what win/draw/lose gives.
Kills - sum the points-value of all killed enemy units (no further explanations needed)
Survivors - subtract the sum of the points-value of all own units that got killed, from the armys total points-value (compared to Kills this shows how well the battle went for you)
TurnOfBreak - the earlier in the game the break comes, the more it is worth for the breaking side
Win/Draw/Lose - the side that gets a "Breaking Win", should of-course be rewarded
To calculate this, an equation is used: [Kills] + [Survivors] + [(7-TurnOfBreak)x200] + [600/300/0] = BattlePoints
(most battles ends about turn 4/5, but in a Tournament the game is halted after turn 6)
Example 1
Chaos makes a Break in turn 4 and has killed off 725p of HE, but has lost 850p along the battle.
Chaos: 725+(2000-850)+(7-4)x200+300 = 725+1150+600+300 = 2775 BP
HE: 850+(2000-725)+0+300 = 850+1275+0+300 = 2425 BP
Review: a Draw to Chaos because of the Break. "Winning the Day" (Break) is well awarded.
The fact that Chaos has taken less points, and also may have lost big if they did not Break the HE, is reflected by the small diff in BP.
Example 2
Chaos makes a Break in turn 5 and has killed off 850p of HE, but has lost 725p along the battle.
Chaos: 850+(2000-725)+(7-5)x200+600 = 850+1275+400+600 = 3125 BP
HE: 725+(2000-850)+0+0 = 725+1150+0+0 = 1875 BP
Review: a Major Win to Chaos. Again "Winning the Day" awards.
Despite small diff in taken points, the fact that Chaos broke HE and had the upper-hand point-wise, is very well awarded in BP diff.
Example 3
The rulebook states, if there is no Break, the side that has taken most points, is the Winner.
So if one side kills but one soldier more, this side is considered to be the "Winner of the Day" (what!?)
The system gives less then 50 BP in diff, a True Draw, which any spectator of the Battlefield would confirm.
There may be some battle outcomes that is not "well-reviewed" by this system. But probably 9 out of 10 is.
