Saffron Walden tournament rules query
« on: March 08, 2015, 07:30:00 AM »
Rules question that came up at yesterday's tournament and I struggled to find the definitive answer in the rules:

Two units in line, side-by-side, touching one another.  Each gets charged by an individual enemy unit.  Enemy units are not touching each other.  Treat as one combat or two?

It'd be two, so long as no unit touches both enemy units. Support may complicate this, since if you run it as two separate combats one stand could end up supporting in both combats, but even then I think it's right to run it as two combats.

If a friendly touches two enemies it be one, but sounds like two in this case.

FWIW, I use the following method.

1) Choose one (and only one) of your units in combat.
2) Note any of your opponent's units it touches, they are in the same combat.
3) Note any of your units they touch, they are in the same combat.
4) Note any of your opponent's units they touch, they are in the same combat.
5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until no new units are added.

I then move on to another one of my units that's not in the above combat and do the same.

Many thanks for the responses.  Much clearer in my mind now!
