So put them on at that and let the market dictate the price rather than jumping in feet first!
I have listed items on eBay before, no one has ever held a projectile weapon to my head demanding I post a high start price and surely it is in your interest to start it low so as to reduce listing fees?
As I said before profiteering.
In general I do that, though ebay recently changed policy such that the first 5 listings are free, no matter the start price. I'll grant you e-bay is increasingly a seller's market rather than a buyers market. I am frustrated with that reality as well.
Nevertheless, $45 and free shipping is, by my reckoning, a fair estimate of the market value -- I sold two other, painted phoenix guard for that amount last year (IIRC to different customers.) It could be said that the profiteering lies in grabbing Phoenix guard that go for below that rate -- or some rate unknown.
And who knows, maybe you'll be glad that I overestimated the going price (or underestimated my willingness to part with them) -- it'll mean that they're still on sale when you happen to need them.
And certainly I'd be glad to see you buy them: I know they'd have found a good home.
