I'm back
« on: July 16, 2015, 07:58:09 PM »
Well, This might not be the correct place to post, but I didn't find any place for new arrivals, so I thought to just post it here. I'm sure Lex won't mind moving it to a more correct topic.

So for those who don't know me, or don't recognize my nickname, I'm Christof and after a couple of years away from warmaster I would like to get back into it. Yesterday I was busy setting up my armies again and the memories from the old crew at call to arms. Lex, Alex, Rick, Wayne, Dane, Thomas, Murray, Jacques, Chris, Scott, Siamak and many many others, in fact I missed it and you lot. So I'd like to get back and do some proper socializing over a good pint and a board full of mini's.

The problem had always been getting a game in as I live in Belgium, and there weren't that many players here.  Lex advised me to seek out Jo. So Jo, you'll get a pm sometime.

For those who don't know me, here's the armies that I used to play:
Orcs and goblins
Skaven
Chaos
I was busy painting dwarfs when I stepped out due to a car accident.

I also played ancients and have the following armies there:
Egyptians (6mm) painted
Assyrians (6mm) painted
Romans (10mm) and Indians (6mm) still to be painted

For the rest I love painting the models (just ask Wayne about the goblins with the polka dot hoods) and the social aspect of the game. I'll see if I can get some stuff on the forum when I get some pictures done.

Anyway, it feels good to see the community hasn't withered and is still alive. It was nice to see this forum so active.

With kind regards,
Christof

Great to have you back. Do you still have your old armies around?

What he just said.  When I was a newbie, losing a game to you in two turns at the Bognor Euro-GT is still etched in my mind!  And it would be great to see those polka-dots back in action.

Yes, I still have all the original armies. I even still have the 2 Best painted awards I got for them as well.
I'm planning on finishing some dwarfs I was busy with back then. I hope I'll be able to do them as good as I used to paint, but I'm sure I'll manage.

Oh, god, the Bognor regis EuroGT. The weekend where the most sunny place in the UK was one of the most stormy weekends I can remember (and I live by the sea, I am used to lots of wind). Sure is nostalgia. I don't remember your nickname, but I sure remember having some real fun games there (apart from my 1 or 2 year old son throwing up on the carpet at the venue). I believe I played Rick that weekend, and Lesley but I might have gotten that mixed up with others, and if I'm not mistaken I played someone called Tim.

I must say it's nice to be remembered and welcomed back, and also to receive messages for a game. (already received one from Peter and Jo), I'll see to take them up on it.

I also have a feeling Geep knows me, but I don't remember the nicknames.

Unfortunately I don't think I do. I am, and always have been, trapped way down here in Australia. I think I've heard of you before, though- I've made a habit of collecting every book, magazine and (if possible) model for the game.

Well, finally found some time to take some pictures. Here they are.
2 dwarf warriors units, one old and one newly painted, some troll slayers, a Skaven doom Bell, A brigade with ratswarm, jezzail and warp lightning cannon. Some goblins and two different troll units.

If you're wondering which units are new, the bases aren't finished yet. units that are finished, have a brownish base with grass tufts on them.

Small files in attachment.

Those are some really sweet paintjobs. The shields on the dwarfs have such a nice battlescarred effect and the stonetrolls really shows of your highlightingskills! Kudos!

Well, a couple of weeks ago Jo and me played a 2000pts Orcs vs Orcs game.
It was a tight game and in the end... the orcs won ....
....drumroll.............. that is the orcs from Jo.

I'm looking to get into a game with Peter as well, and it looks like we'll have more games in the future.

Painting is going forward as well, as the dwarf warriors, trollslayers and the skaven doombell have now been properly based as well as a new stormvermin unit that I still hadn't started painting. I'll see to get all models I still have here at home painted up. I'll occasionally have a check on acquiring some new armies, so I can have a go with those, but with enough blisters and armies at home for 4 armies I should be fine for a while.

I'm checking if I will be able to make it to the triwizard in Saffron Walden, but with my guard duties and me being off from home the week before it's not very likely.

However,  I am thinking about a get together for Belgians and the surrounding countries at a local wargames convention, and would like to know if there's any interest. (I'll certainly also check with Jo and some old contacts that also used to play). Let me know if there's interest.
