Guideline for collecting Warmaster armies in a sensible way
« on: October 07, 2015, 09:51:49 AM »
Hi folks,

reading this topic (http://www.forum.specialist-arms.com/index.php?topic=7860.0) i find it very interseting how to collect Warmaster armies in a sensible way. How many troops/options do you need to field a 2000 pts army with as much variety "as possible" keeping in mind to play a tournament and also a large battle with about 5000 pts.+

For example, in the thread mentioned before, there was a nice statement towards High Elves (the List is "mine", following the discussion in the thread):

10 Spearmen
10 Archers
6 Silver Helms
6 Reavers
6 Chariots
2 Giant Eagles
2 Elven Bolt Thrower
1 General
3 Hero
3 Wizard
2 Dragons
2 Giant Eagle Rider

i think having all units mentioned above, you have completed your HE collection (in a sensible way).

Is it possible to create such a list for every army? I would find it very helpfull to have a list where i can delete the single options i have completed. Especially to rate some ebay offers which contain units i do not require.

So i will try to create such a sensible list for Tomb Kings

10 units of Skeletons
10 units of archers
6 Cavalry units
6 Chariot units
2 Carrions
2 Skull Chukka
2 Bone Thrower
2 Bone giants
2 Sphinx
1 Tomb king
4 Lich priests
2 Dragons

Maybe you can help and continue the lists.

Best

David

I don't think I can call my own collections sensible, but I'll add to this when I'm in a better state to think.

One point to raise now though (pun intended) is that a Khemri/VC army probably wants more skeleton units than you actually plan to use- maybe 3-4 extra at 2000 points (which should cover some pretty extreme circumstances).

The fun thing is not to be sensible and to plan 10K armies.......
Harder to do now the ranges are not available but there are lots of proxy ranges out now!

Yep, proxies rule! The only thing is that if your army is entirely proxy, apart from one or two GW units or characters, it looks a bit odd somehow. Maybe that's just the purist in me?  :D
