Will Specialist Computer Games Lead to a Comeback for the Table Top Versions?

Hi all,
Just a thought, with all the Specialist games now being made into computer games, with man of war, blood bowl, battlefleet gothic and mordhiem, is there any hope for the tabletop games to be revived?

I doubt it. The small "gateway" games doesnt fit in with GWs current business practises. The computer games just make them money without having to pay anything.
The best (or worst, depending on how you view GW touching the games again) chance would be for a one-shot "limited edition" box like Space Hulk.

I completely agree with Darkson. As far as GW is concerned, the specialist games never existed, and never will.

I didn't hold much hope either but would be happy to even see a hint of a specialist box set. Would buy it in a second. They destroyed warhammer so the smaller games never stand a chance mind.
Hopefully the games are good though.

I've edited your topic title to reflect your question more accurately
.
I very much doubt that there is going to be a comeback for specialist games. While I'm disappointed in lots of ways that GW has jettisoned some of its best products, I am also relieved because it means that they will no longer be messing around with the rules, which should, in theory, lead to stable rules packages. In practice, it doesn't always work out that way (the Epic Community continually finds ways to shoot itself in the foot regarding the rules), but at least the possibility remains.

Chiming in with the rest of the crowd. Probably not an official comeback via GW or anywhere else.
But it would be a good time to try and drag new people into these wonderfull games
How? No idea, maybe a flashy new website that ties together the PC/Console-games with the original ones and points interested readers to communitys like this one and so on. But someone needs to make sucha website and fill it with content... So yeah
nice thought

Just adding to the echo chamber here
If anything GW probably officially canned all SG stuff especially to license them off as computer games. Why not tie in computer games with a re-launch of the SG lines? Because it wont sell boxes of Space Marines. Hell, they killed off Warhammer to put Space Marines in it with AoS!
It wouldn't surprise me if they canned 40k to concentrate on Horus Heresy instead. SM on SM. NOTHING would make them happier.
May come across as a bit salty there, but what else is there to say? They are a model company that happens to make games, yet want's desperately to do something else....Warhammer records anyone?

Thanks Irisado.
I am hoping that the computer game bring exposure to the table top and so bring players into the table top version. Thats my hope anyway.
The game developer has requested Alpha testers and when I was on their forum they indicated they dont have the rights to post anything about the table top game. That amazes me but they did say that even though they cant post anything the community can. So will see how that goes.
Still it appears to me that GW told them not to mention anything about the source material. Appalling really.

there is a pretty neat video of a game developer showing off some terrain building software being used to develop the mano'war: corsair game here
