Great source for 10mm siege stuff
« on: October 04, 2009, 08:34:27 PM »
Just got back from The Derby Worlds.
A trader there has a nice range of 10/15mm siege kit at very reasonable prices.
I paid £5.50 for a very nice trebuchet. (ART44) fits on 3 bases, the others suit WM but are slightly more expensive.
The other siege items are also of a favourable scale.
The mangonel and scorpions are very nice and quite cheap.
Check them out here http://shop.ancient-modern.co.uk/artillery-92-c.asp
I will be ordering the last few bits of my siege equipment from them.

Nice.  Thanks for sharing.  The only ones I knew about for 10mm before this were the Old Glory pieces.

Then have a look at Kallistra, too. They also have a range of Fortifications and Siege stuff.

I too use the pendraken/kallistra range, those siege towers are very good value as are the bombards, mantlets and rams.
But donnington minis, fills the gap there is in the market for the reamining equipment you need.
Old glory stuff is expensive compared to these and whenever I ask to see the stuff at shows, they always give the impression they cannot be bothered so I have always returned the favour.  ::)

Now if only we had a comprehensive set of siege rules including rules for mangonels and scorpions we may be on to a winner ;)

I feel the same way about Pendraken, since they refuse to post pictures on their site.

I actually did know about the Kalistra stuff, but it slipped my mind.  The one problem I have with their siege tower is the size of the wheels; they seem too small to me.

When I actually get to this stage, I may build my own siege equipment anyway, but those trebs you linked to earlier are very tempting.

I have heard that pendraken is hireing a professional painter (Andymac) for the new website pics... for telling the truth, the page will improve a lot when we can see its products...

Looking forward to see how you build the siege equipment and the finish product!!

As an aside, when rifling through my Wm 'bits box', it turns out that I've got two unassembled GW WM Empire siege towers. Plus of course a load of odds and sods, ladders, rams and so on...

Great find.  The GW towers and such were quite nice, if I recall correctly.

I always figured out that Skull chukka was the fantasy "scorpion". And elf/dark elf repetitive bolthrower was also a sort of.
