[WM] Dark Elves versus Witch Hunters
« on: March 25, 2016, 11:17:47 AM »
Promised Rowlybot that I would post some pics of recent game against kyussinchains at Warhammer World.  I played the WHs.

Overall story of the game was Harpies hit cannons and took off a stand.  In trying to re-jig the defensive line I failed orders and got everyone in front of each other, so decided to launch the flagellants at him to buy me some time.  Yet agaain kyussinchains blundered with his hero in turn 1 but this time remembered to pack the Sceptre of Sovereignty in his general's chariot.

Cold Ones came forward and 2 units hit a brigade of 4 flagellants.  Was hoping that numbers and support would grind him down but I threw - for 3 rounds - some of my worst dice in years.  Knights then got jumped by the Cold One remnants plus a Hydra in the next round.

Finally managed to re-order my guns and sent the Pistoliers out to try and recover the situation.  I was hoping that they'd roll over some Dark Riders and then advance into the flank of some Cold Ones but they bounced.  With another brigade of Flagellants having sacrificing themselves against a brigade of Spearmen, the next wave of Cold Ones moved forward to deliver the coup de grace.

Good game and - as Janners says - better to have the awful dice in friendly games!

As usual it was a fun game, I can only apologise for my obscene luck throughout!

If your knights had killed the hydra (and they were a single wound away!) Pistoliers had finished the dark riders and the flagellents had massacred the crossbowmen as you would normally expect it would have been a famous victory by the narrowest of margins but my dice had other ideas.... I'm sure you'll have your revenge next time! :)

Next time we play one-to-one, I shall use the Witch Hunter minis as Skaven proxies.  That will (hopefully) be a different experience.  And perhaps I need to change my dice!

Thanks.  I've got a few games lined up in the next few weeks and I'll try to remember the camera.

I routinely throw my dice back in the box after getting bad rolls until I find some that roll well!

I want that gorgeous chaos marker!   Where can I find one?

What is it?  ;)

@cjbennett22, The swirly thing is not mine.  It was already on one of the tables at WHW.  Just had a quick look online and I can tell you that it is a Balewind Vortex.  Now OOP it seems.

There was a Warmaster scale Balewind Vortex which was created by a hobbyist - they were all sold on the French forum from a limited cast a while back.
