So my first siege battle at last! It was 2000 points battle, Undead were attackers and Dwarfs defenders.
Before the battle ended I had no idea what to expect. After the battle I was suprised how exciting it was.
Going through the siege rules, I was always wondering about balance. Dwarf unit or Skeleton unit on ramparts make a huge difference. We were ready to test it, as the Undead were about to storm Dwarf defences.
I was really skeptical about how skellies with 2A can ever do any harm to fortified dwarf hangunners supported by two units of cannons and two flame cannons. And really, first six turns my skletons were turned into dust unit after unit. Only one or two were able to make it to the walls just to be shot to pieces. Most frustrating was the fact how incredibly fragile the siege towers are no matter how many hours and how much energy you spent to create them. Just one good cannon shot and they are gone...
However, in 6th turn Undead managed to smash the gate and breach one wall section turn later. And things started to happen... chariots charging through the gate supported by hero on dragon and carrions from behind is a hard hit even for sturdy dwarf defenders. Just in the last (9th) turn I was able to get one chariot unit to the defender's edge and therefore win. Undead were one unit from breakpoint.
The game was really exciting and at some points even nerve-breaking.
