Free movement in Dark Future
« on: October 28, 2009, 01:38:56 PM »

The latest D6 Generation podcast discusses Rush N Crush, and that reminded me how much I used to like Dark Future... at least I remember it being good...

The rules were available in PDF form on the GW page, combined with White Line Fever, the vehicles are easy enough to come across, and counters can be made without too many problems. The real problem with the game is the track.

I am sure that I oculd easily come up with a set of adaptations to the rules to make it work without the grided track sections, but would that drop something out of the game? I remember the fact that the track added some interesting elements - motorbikes could jink to only take up one side of squares, for example.

Would DF work if I put together some 'off-road' variant rules for it, and would people be interested in this?

i dont think off road would be a good idea - part of the challange was staying on the road at times ( going too fast to make the turn sections) and lets not forget about bootleg manuvers, plus the additional things like wreckage , roadbloacks and sand dunes on the road. -- if you was able to go off road, the challanges of getting past these things would be nulified.
Acording to the fluff of the game, the off road areas were too hard to get thru due to the sand ( in the novels  the nickname for the USA was "the Unites States of Sand and Rocks")

Yeah. Thinking about this more, and I think that you are probably right. I will need to draw my own road sections, then.  >:(

Weren't there some rules released for off-road vehicles, or was that a fan-made thing?
