heroquest storage

Alright, I am about to embark on a undoubtedly treacherous journey of re-boxing my heroquest board game!  the most heroic thing any gamer can do!  I will not be painting the mini's but I hope to magnetize them into a tray to help with the setup and hopefully everything will stay in the original box and keep the box the same size!  wish me luck! 

Glorious treasure awaits me if I can complete my quest.

The way I got round it was to use separate boxes for storing the figures and the furniture pieces.  I just kept the cards, dice, rules, templates, and quest books inside the box.

So I have had the HEROQUEST box on my craft table while I finish up a few painting projects and my nearly 5 year old wanted to play.  We did, he made it through half of the first quest before losing interest but man, what a pain to set it all up.  Just gives me so much more drive to repackage all of the components.  I expect to start next weekend after I can get a few supplies, being our memorial day everything is closed for the holiday.

holy crap is this thing going slow!  I have only built the trays for the models after magnetizing them all.  I have decided that I want my doors to all be pre-built and standing in storage so all of the inserts will need to be replaced or rebuilt to be a hair taller for them.  With the models all lined up under the armory insert the furniture has barely any room but ill be ok with them just going into a sort of box section.  I will be off to staples to scan the armory insert this weekend and then hopefully next weekend I will have this stuff really rocking out.

I will need some doors to fill out the inventory so I am currently watching ebay.  no pictures yet, hardly any progress

I only need to re-create the armory insert, just need to have it printed for me.  Hopefully this weekend I can be all done.  Last things I am looking for are a couple more closed doors to fill out that tray and then another set of combat dice so the players can have their full set and the GM can have a set of combat dice as well.

wow, everything took a lot longer than it should have with this project.......

so of course the box is taller to fit the pieces and then I have everything on or in a tray to be removed and organized for the zargon player to organize as needed

I actually ended up having to recreate the armory list, the character templates and all of the board pieces like the stairwell and the trap pieces. The character templates combine all the information from the card pieces with the paper pieces and are laminated for dry erase markers. The most functional piece are the magnetised models with their trays, those help gameplay the most and took the longest to get the magnet sheet to be perfect to the rounded square model bases. Its not a good looking storage but its functionality over beauty. I am still looking for three more closed doors, ebay and patience.
