Models for Albion Army
« on: January 02, 2020, 10:31:32 PM »
On an impulse buy I bought a couple of the Copplestone giants. Largely because I like them and I was buying a few wolves anyway. Should be fun to paint too.

I don't really need them for my orc army but thought I could start an Albion army in the future and they would be a good start. I like the 15mm Picts from Copplestone as well and they would make great ogres so they're on the cards in the future.

I'm still on the search for warriors though as those from other manufacturers seem too civilised in comparison. Pendraken barbarians are possibly the best fit. Any other ideas?

I'd also like to have a Formorian allied contingent but the only thing that's even vaguely along the lines I'm thinking are the old Khorne demons and they're pretty hard to come by.

Anyway, just a ramble on today's musing.

Newline's Celts are pretty good, not expensive either:

Their cavalry is only a single pose but I got around that by mixing them with some figures from Magister Militum

Polar Fox's giant set is nice too, 3 for 18 Euro (plus postage).

I note that Copplestone have added a third giant to their range as well:

As for the Fimir, how about these?

I'd forgotten about the Newline stuff. They're a very goog price.

Good shout on the Blackgate demons as well. I imagine they'll be up for sale in the not terribly distant future.

I've also taken a shine to the polar fox cave orcs but juggling if they're worth the expense.

Thanks very much for suggestions Andy.

Newline's Army pack is great value, 1570 points for £59.50 (plus postage). Throw in the odd Giant and some hero/wizard characters you will probably already have and you've just about got a 2000 point army.

Agreed that's outstanding value. I'm not sure if I'm going 'proper' Albion or more Formorian or a mix at this stage but I will keep them in mind .

Depends how much you want to mix things up... I went for a couple of units each from a variety of manufacturers.

Newline's models are very nice.

Lancer miniatures also do some nice celts, especially the chariots. Very reasonably priced.

TB Line celts and chariots are also nice - Aster Wargames still have a few if Pendraken ghave not re-released that range already.

Trolls Under the Bridge have Albion missile troops and also some nice Erebos chariots - they are intended to be for a Chaos army but the riders look more like marauders so would be OK for Albion as well.

Adler also have a nice range of Gauls - I do not own any but have seen them in a friend's army.
