[Battle report] Nagash siege his old master
« on: August 25, 2011, 10:54:34 AM »
This games is setting in the Old Days, when Nagash became undead and challenges his old master. A great undead army siege the fortress temple of the Pharaoh. Once the Pharaoh is dead Nagash will return to the Black Pyramid and launch the massive curse doomed to all the inhabitants of the region to awake as undeads and start to fighting each other in the never end battle until the current days.

A really fun game with two house rules units, funerary swarms and war mammoth as a siege machine (ram+skull chukka + 2 proyectil fire). Do not want to enter in house rules details so then it starts the Battle...

Game over. But we continue for pure pleasure, taking out a human hero to command the army (the first born son of the Paraho!!). Eventually the camera batteries ran out, and there are not much further pics. We consume all the turns left having a very fun and exciting battle in the ramparts and wall-climb attacks!!

Considerations of the siege game (our opinion):

- It is important to attacker double points to defender.
- The min/max of artillery is ommitted
- It is fun having flyers or they-came-fom-the-sand units
- Is really hard for undead infantry to attack walls, but spell rising deads is very useful giving to the skellies a good chance, and also a mindbender to defender.
- It is important that all the rampart are not filled completly of defender units. So the defender needs to move his troops and make choices of how to defend his perimeter.
- It is fun to siege a 4 wall complete fortress. Make the attacker need to move his army and attack in different walls.
- Giving orders in ramparts (difficult terrain -1) is not easy :)
- Ladders model are very useful to mark which units has charged to the walls in this turn! provide with a bunch of them before a siege game
- Be careful when attaching the general  :'(

and a rule question: Whe do not paly very often, and a doubt araise: May the undead make an advance when defeating a unit?
They has no iniciative so we think they could not advance to another combat.

hope you enjoy

Great photos - nice report. Which siege rules did u use?

Undead are indeed allowed to advance into new units (it's no initiative thing).

Excellent. Thanks for posting.

We have also discovered that Khemri struggle to assault fortifications - we now let the Khemri use Graveguard from the VC lists, they are just painted bronze and called TombGuard instead! That helps.

Lovely report, nice to see a game actually being played.

Love the Temple complex - very nice indeed. Although looks a bit out of place on the green table ....  ;)

Cheers, Martyn

I really like the scenery. As everybody it seems.

Could you give us a link or the name of the producer of this paper scenery ? They may have some other things interesting ?
