Space Battleship Yamato

If Japan made a movie about BFG, it would be this (it is a modern update based on an 80s series which was called Starblazers in the US, I thnk). Very cool.

Anyone seen 'Fury' (WW2 Sherman Tank with Brad Pitt)?

I was wondering whether or not its worth a trip to the cinema for or whether its a 'wait till it comes out on DVD' purchase?

I saw the trailer only so far, but it seems a bit 'we Americans drove across Africa and pushed the Germans out, then we defeated Hitler.... I dont think that other countries were there'.

The last act of Fury seemed to lack. Aka the elite of the ss looked like trainee stormtroopers regarding shooting...

And aye, Yamamoto is cool.

Interstellar.
I suspect it will be a "Marmite" experience film (love it or hate it).

I loved it. First intelligent film I've seen for a while.

Interesting, as this has had a huge variety of responses. An online review said that it was fantastic, and made it sound like a very interesting move. You guys seem to think its pretty good. My brother saw it, and said that it went from brilliant to 'what the hell', while a Facebook friend hated it with passion.

Well for me it is a 97/100 score. And yes it is a hate it love it movie and yes it is a homage to 2001. But were 2001 is kind of overrated by its fans interstellar is the more fun movie.

And when it comes to movies listen to the horizon. ;)

Interstellar was going so well into the speech half way through about how maybe Love is a scientific force you can measure and agjalksgalksdghblarrghhargle NO.

I liked that bit. Plus it was the opinion of one character and not given as a scientific fact. :)

Interstellar first, followed by Penguins of Madagascar - a stark contrast, I know. While Christopher Nolan's Interstellar was an out and out serious movie with the story going like our time on earth is coming to an end and a team of explorers takes to traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars, the Penguins movie was a totally frantic and silly animated comedy for kids (though I enjoyed it a lot as well!). Next on the list - Exodus: Gods and Kings.

It's not faithful to the original - its based on the Hobbit and I know it has upset a couple of my purist friends who are both real Tolkien nuts. Don't go expecting a faithful reproduction of the book. Heck, the battle of the 5 armies is what, around 6 pages in the original book?

Me, I loved it! Billy Connolly as the Dwarf General - classic!
I'll be buying the extended edition as soon as its out to add to my other 5 extended edition dvds!

Just a pity it really is "One last time"

LotR is on the top of my all time movie list.
The Hobbit is not. When I first saw it I found it okay-ish, when I watched it a second time it began to itch. And now I'm in a serious denial about the movie. Still have to see the second and third part.
LotR perfectly captured the essence and feel of the book, well done by Peter Jackson. With the Hobbit he failed miserably. You cannot make a book for childeren and mesh it with LoTR-movie. Scenes between Radagast on a sled and chopped of heads do not mix well. The movie is completely out of balance...

Jupiter Ascending is coming soon!
