And lest start with one of the tutorials that receive more visits in tempestus shipyard, I am actually impresed that it is so popular. but actually if you have the materials is really easy to make, cheap (yes I have written cheap), fast and the results really make the effor woth it.
I think this tutorial can be as well use to make terrain for epic and of course 40k, I actually discover it making some hive terrain for my 40k tyranid
Resin cities,
The materials we will need are.
-Resin, I know this one is the conflictive one.
-Platiline, is better if it is high quality one.
-Tubes and diferent shapes.
Step 1 preparation.
Prepare the plastiline. you will need a plane surface and you should be aware that the resin can felt to your table so secure everything.

Step 2: Negative.
Now we are going to build the city we want but in a negative, first make a negative of the surface you want the city, then using the different shape tubes just give the plastiline a random shape. the result should be the plastiline with a lot of holes and a shape in with you can place the miniature secure.

Step 3 Resin casting
Just pour the resin on the negative, If you are using this method in a surface you must put the desired surface in contact with the resin around 5 minutes after pouring, just before it harden.

When the resin is ready take the miniature or surface and cleans the plastiline rest. Now take a look on your space city, now just cut the borders of it and add the final details. You can add plasticard pieces to make more solid buildings and get rig of the bubbles.
You can do really funny things with it

The last one need some cleaning.
On 2014 I have 2 project witch will feed from this procedure.
-Port tempestus.
-My own version of a space hulk, with will be (IF i manage to do it) my biggest miniature ever made (for battlefleet gothic.) and believe me port tempestus and my new planet devourer ares going to be dwarfed.
