white dwarf 167
« on: July 03, 2015, 02:04:50 AM »
I posted this in the trading forum but nothing yet.

Does anyone have the #167 issue of White Dwarf Magazine?  I would love to get a pdf of it or some electronic copy one way or another please.

Would love to see it for the Man O'War rules and articles.

Please and thank you!

I should have asked you to remind me to remind you Lex!  :P

After taking a bit of time to do some more research on my own I found a ton of white dwarf's that I downloaded but of course it is missing some, The one I still cannot find a good scan of are the templates for the shoreforts in white dwarf 167.  I have found a use for the defense tower and the coastal bastion.  And the seashore fort but I have that template already made up.

Can you get me a good scan for those two defenses please?
Thank you much.

By the way are you Lex Van Rooy of gamesworkshop?  just a stab in the dark and based on only the whole Dutchman thing.

I have a scenario generator that I use a lot now for warmaster games that was written by a Lex Van Rooy and published in a games workshop magazine.  Is that your article?  :)

Is it legal to do that? I thought GW still had the copyright for it.

roadkill this chat....kind of jumping to conclusions huh?  never said where I got the article and I definetly didn't get it from him.  It's very possible I am reading it from the warmaster magazine I own and paid for from the store when it came out.

It's a very nice article and wanted to say hi lex, good job.  I am using it for every warmaster encounter during my campaign game using the mighty empires tiles and it does a really good job inventing a store while I play.

I should have been more clear. I was talking about your original request, not the article from Lex.

The reason I am asking is because I own that white dwarf with the shoreforts and I would love to be able to share it but I don't know the legalities behind it so haven't offered yet.

from what I know, everthing for the man o'war game was based on these templates and all of the templates had a footnote to be able to photocopy all you want in order to play the game.  But I mostly just wanted them because the only thing I could do to get them myself was to do a screen shot of my browser with a free preview of the game and cut and paste into Microsoft paint.  That image printed out like crap, couldn't read anything so then I had to work some magic to wipe out all of the text.  Then put the text back into the template.  I have the templates I wanted now and I have already play tested what I wanted.

I wanted to see for myself how hard it would be for a "balanced" fleet to attack a coastal bastion.  I wanted to make sure that it would be possible to lose a ship during the attack.  And I wanted to test how hard it would be to face a bastioin with just a wizard as well.

"balanced" meaning, it wouldn't be to hard to stack a fleet to face just the coastal bastion but in a campaign game a player will need to have a balanced fleet.

I have found that a dwarf fleet can do with ease.  1 dreadnaught and 2 ironclads seemed to take it down with hardly a scratch.....with the wizard trying and failing pretty much every spell he could get his hands on.  I think that each fleet will have it's ups and downs and the dwarf fleet will have the easiest time with the fort.
