from what I know, everthing for the man o'war game was based on these templates and all of the templates had a footnote to be able to photocopy all you want in order to play the game. But I mostly just wanted them because the only thing I could do to get them myself was to do a screen shot of my browser with a free preview of the game and cut and paste into Microsoft paint. That image printed out like crap, couldn't read anything so then I had to work some magic to wipe out all of the text. Then put the text back into the template. I have the templates I wanted now and I have already play tested what I wanted.
I wanted to see for myself how hard it would be for a "balanced" fleet to attack a coastal bastion. I wanted to make sure that it would be possible to lose a ship during the attack. And I wanted to test how hard it would be to face a bastioin with just a wizard as well.
"balanced" meaning, it wouldn't be to hard to stack a fleet to face just the coastal bastion but in a campaign game a player will need to have a balanced fleet.
I have found that a dwarf fleet can do with ease. 1 dreadnaught and 2 ironclads seemed to take it down with hardly a scratch.....with the wizard trying and failing pretty much every spell he could get his hands on. I think that each fleet will have it's ups and downs and the dwarf fleet will have the easiest time with the fort.
