Yeah I know how you feel. my job is now just gone and I've been kicked to the curb with nothing. So while I try to drag myself back up I've been doing all my projects I can to keep me gee-d up... Who knows when I'll be working again and even what it will be so I figured now's the time to finish all those loose ends. in bfg it's an Astartes fleet. 40k it's my spacesharks and an armoured vehicle I had for my guard armies (which I recently finished up) and a little dip into epic40k just because I'd never tried it... And who knows what then?

Is that strike cruiser the same one you originally received? If so you cleaned it up well - at the very least it passes the tabletop ready rule and it photographed up lovely!

Sorry to hear about your job, what was it you were doing? You are right, at least we can focus some time on the hobby but I hope you get on okay.

yup same old shitty print. the texture adds to the nuglization/corrostion effect i suppose and yes i spent a LOT of time cleaning it up. it would never have been possible to clean it to a real decent standard though...

also re. job. thanks ragsta.  that's real nice of you to say!
i was previously a greenhouse manager of a family run (not my family mind...) garden centre.
I'm guarding sick and elderly family members and wanted to remain on furlough longer than they were prepared to keep me on it. even though a lot of the other staff (quite a few less senior and less at risk I might add)
the health and safety and social distancing capabilities of the firm are simply a joke and they just keep on regardless.
their solution? simply got rid of the entire greenhouse section (me and my staff) and are buying in stock to sell at a higher stage of growth/development in the shop alone...

its madness. essentially they are throwing a potential thousand percent profit away, to buy stuff in and sell at no more than 200 percent... instead of growing and selling it properly

they tried to hold me to ransom and call a bluff.
I was not bluffing. got to stick to your guns when it comes to my family potentially dying.

thats ten years down the pisser. no job. no redundancy. just fuck off...

this is what is not being reported on the news. the government is giving ALL the discretion and power to the employer to decide what is safe and what is not.  and who gets furlough and who just gets discarded like and old johnny...

ok off the soapbox now. ;)

Hey man, sorry to hear about all this about your work! Pretty sure Section 86 of the HASAWA says that if you can refuse to go to work if your employer hasn't addressed H&S issues or you believe your H&S to be put at risk whilst attending. Been a while since I did my H&S stint so I may or may not be quoting incorrectly!! It might not even be S86..... S68? I'm getting old.  ???

Yeah I was working to begin with. Then got put on furlough. Now just thrown aside. The joke is I was the h&s officer for my section and had a full plan in place since day one.but of course, why spend money making it safe for me and my team when you can just delete them..?

Well, why waste your time working for a company that doesn't appreciate you? Been there, done that. I was sad to go but I'm Glad I left when I did. At least you get to do some hobby! I wish I was that lucky :P

Thanks! Really pleased with how this interpretation of a battlebarge has come out. basing it on a helian hull means It's still beefy and intimidating, yet has more grace than the official model without compromising it's astatesness...
Now that John over on vanguard has restocked, I've a panthera on its way to fill the role of strike cruiser.
Also I've never really noticed how well the panthera and lynx fit so seamlessly with the helian cruiser hull in style and asthetics untill I swapped out the prow...
There's an idea for a future conversion kit, panthera style prows for use on helian cruisers!

This conversion was rather long time coming but easy to figure out in hindsight. The front is the mangozac black ship prow with the plates off of a retribution battleship (I'd used the black ship plates on sommit else) the rear plates of a panthera were inverted as added to the fins. And the plas-weaps are from a russian guy that sells shapeways recasts on eBay. It's the weapons that make it though. They have enough grace to look right on a helian hull but enough utilitarian brutality about them to look Astartes. So pleased with this! Lol

Once again well done. The side wings are a real good addition.

strikecruiser:

again with the helian launch bay trick on the prow, this time with a bit of classic bfg bay beneath it for body and substance.
I intend this to be one of two.
I'm pleased wit the stubby, pugnacious look of this vessel but what I really want/need for the second one is a classic marine strike cruiser prow, as I feel this would look even better, not that I'm displeased with this one...

in truth the fleet's coming along nicely:

(forgot the ordnace in this shot, DOH!)

so yeah, if anyone has a strike cruiser prow they'd be prepared to sell or donate to the cause, sling me a PM!

thanks.
I bit the bullet and simply stripped down my old bloodangels strike cruiser and donated its prow to this:

the second strike cruiser.

this is much better in my opinion but that may just be nostalgia for the old silhouette of a strikecruiser.
however I do feel this conversion banishes all the things about the original model and keeps all the best bits LOL!
I always felt the strike cruiser was a bit of a cop-out in that it was an unashamed rehash of the dauntless hull with a few tinkers here and there and a fancy new prow.

also whilst stripping the old bloodangels strikecruiser  I took the opportunity to repaint the two thunderhawks that accompanied it to spaceshark colourscheme too, topping those up to four markers in the fleet now...
