so (heavily) WIP:

for those not in the know its a modification of the gear on the new adeptus titanicus civitas spires sprue. which just so happens to feature gaps in its structure that fit standard issue bfg weapons/bays beautifully!

the inner sanctum features the eagle from the ig tank sprue (or was it from a the assault on macragge aerial thingy, I dunno now), a bigass macro cannon in a quad patern and it also has the battlefleet helios lance turrets on this section.

next layer is the main armament section featuring , again, helios weapons batteries, classic imperial/chaos turrets (mounted on bits of old lascannon barrel) and what will be converted imperial launch bays (to be straight not angled) all of which will fit on a larger octagon of plasticard. the bays will look similar to the ramilies ones, kinda like parking bays that lead inside.

then? well a larger, docking, layer is needed and who knows what then? will this layer cake ever end? and will it ever get painted? tune in for more next time!

two layers down... more to go!

oh, C&C is not only welcomed, but ideas and stuff is needed to be honest. don't want to make a balls up of this like the original armatige station I did. I want this to look legit!
does anyone know of/reccomend which 40k/aos scenery wil be good for the lower layers. need docking sections akin to the pitched roof dealies on the ramilies and at present I'm funted if i can figure out where to poach them from...

thanks guys

and lord b, its like £20 man go for it! ;)

seriously though I was thinking of using four of the 40k shipping containers in a cross as bigass docking bays, large enough to fit a cruiser inside! but have no actual experiance of using them. do you think they would work in such a way or just look plain odd/ too big.

Im kinda thinking of, ramilies:

meets port maw:

that conversion is from wd (circa 2005/2006?) but somewhere in between size wise (ok a lot less than port maw. that sonovvabitch was huge man!

It will also be featuring some features/ideas from this spacedock: inspired by dave andrews one in the bfg rulebook)

and I'm sure I'll throw in a few things I learnt from making the original fort hammond and other stations...

Firstly, the jury rigged gunboat looks great, I loved modding the old BFG hulls! Secondly, don’t worry about your SM ship painting blip - I don’t even use GW paints anymore and it still happens! Paint summat else and go back to it later :)

Space station plan is good! Those containers would need some scale references removed I suspect but you should go for it! At the very worst they can become terrain for your Primaris yes? Also, consider picking up some of the Vanguard civvies ships to add as detailing to your build - docked or whatever. That’s my plan anyway... Eventually  ???

Yeah I got four sprues of containers in the end on eBay for £6 each! So that was a result. As you say. It's terrain for 40k if It don't work! As for the system ships? I've got that covered with scratch builds to be honest but that size of stuff was the plan. Those little ships push the scale up an add depth and life to a model. The containers will have open ends and full interior detail , including docking ships and stuff. I will be doing quite a bit to remove scale issues (that keypad either side of the door will be a bast) and the top hatches will be gone too. Also thanks for your support in this and the sm catastrophe! It's truly appreciated!

Er, well. Do all of them? Why have 1 Space station when you can have loads? ;)

Always loved that scratch built station (3rd Pic). Great use of parts.

Yeah it's gorgeous ain't it. And as for all three? You crazy? Port maw would fill my damn lounge alone! Might well do a flat starport after this'un... Ive plenty of bits still from the titanicus set so that's the 'buildings' side of it figured...

Port Maw is supposed to be a Planet isn't it? A failed Necron World Engine that's completely hollow..... (*cough*DeathStar*Cough*).

But, yeah, do the thing!!

Thanks, mega happy so far. It's all just worked out so well...
I ran out of thin plasticard for the cladding but my wife's Moser Roth chocolate packaging to the rescue! The hex heatshield style texture stuff on the 'runway' is from the bottom of some eclairs packaging (someone's birthday at work!) Plasticard angle on the join and the leftover panthera weapons and bays for the defence ring and to hide the cheapo thick plasticard I made the platform from. Also had some brassetch eagles left from an old fw purchase just dying to be used on this. Yeah, It's all wonky all over of course but remember who's making it!

Oh and the shipping containers? Dear god what a disaster. Far to big... What was I thinking?

God knows what now... Might just leave this one as is... Can always be added to something else later. Put it this way, it would have to be painted in sub assemblies anyhow so..?
