Recently I've seen Star Trek Beyond and I must say it perhaps is the best Star Trek movie in the whole franchise alongside The Undiscoverd Country.

The Sabotage part was excellent.

subgenre:
The superhero movies this year rate in my opinion as follows
X-Men Apocalypse 7.7
Batman v Superman ext ed. 7.3
Deadpool 6.5
Cpt.America Civil War 6.3

Didn't see Suicide Squad.

Room was also a really good movie.

And in a few months we will be seeing Rogue One - Star Wars. My expectations are fairly low. It is the director of Godzilla... and the trailers fail to make an impact. More sci-fi war movie then star wars movie.

Finally got around to watching The Big Short. How Steve Carrell didn't get an award is a crime. Brilliant.

Of course everyone should stop what they're doing and go watch Stranger Things.

just watched captain America: civil war.

pretty good, really had a hoot watching spider man come in but it still just felt bland as the fights didn't seem to hurt anyone at all until war-machine was shot down.  Then, in the end, it was just a normal guy like me or anyone that was able to not only FIND buckey but frame him and then also somehow know who was going to give him an evaluation AND he already knew about the mission that buckey did back in 1991?????  this bad guy has way too much information for a normal dude.  My kids are 2 and 4 but they know good movies and this one did not hold them at all and basically it was on in the background as I chased them around the house like normal play time  :)

Spaceballs, that's a movie that glues my kids to the screen so we can all agree they like good film!!

I keep trying to find time to watch simon pegg in "pursuit of happiness" with the wife.

this morning my 2 year old came over to me with an action figure, the head was twisted around.  I had to use the line "Great beasties what happened to his head?"  "Its on backwards!"

the 4 year old in the background actually stopped what he was doing and smiled at me as if he knew the line from the movie!  LOL

Captain America: Civil War

I enjoyed it while i watched.  Then i reflected on the subtext the movie was trying to feed me, and now I despise everything it stands for.

I watched Rogue One with my parents.

It was entertaining but - I didn't care for the characters, it felt like an exercise in nostalgia rather than something I'd really recommend for other people.

Ofcourse I've seen Rogue One (with family) and I liked it a lot! Good flowing story, excellent action scenes and a surprisingly good Felicity Jones. Krennic was a worthy Imperial officer.

Also saw Passengers. A nice romantic sci-fi movie.


The 2016 Top:

1. Rogue One
2. Room
3. Passengers
4. Star Trek Beyond
5. 13 hours the secret soldiers of benghazi
6. Dr. Strange
7. 10 Cloverfield Lane
8. Alice through the looking glass
9. Gods of Egypt
10. X-Men apocalypse

Biggest dissapointment: the Neon Demon. Became a Refn fan with Drive and Only God Forgives but the Neon Demon ended up being mediocre.
Batman v Superman was okay-ish, deadpool overrated, and other mediocre movies but fun to have seen once:
Zootopia, Curse of the Sleeping Beauty, The Assassin, Warcraft, Turtles 2, CptAmerica Civil War.

Crap last year: the forest, 5th wave, hateful eight

Really big crap: Mother´s Day & Independence Day resurgence

Ah, forgot to say, I watched Arrival and it was fantastic - best film I saw in the cinema last year.

I really enjoyed Rogue One. It was a 'nostalgia' film - but that didn't detract for me!
Deffo worth seeing on the big screen.

Really good movie with some great acting. Not a movie for popcorn though! It surely isn't for the faint hearted!

So my wife is getting lasik eye surgery and we are actually getting a refund back with taxes.  So.......I took my four year old with me and let him pick out a new tv and speaker system for us  :)  speaking of movies, my latest project is rearranging our living room for a new 65" suhd and 4k tv/blu ray and 7.2 surround sound. 

When my wife recovers from eye surgery and has her brand new vision we can watch a new 4k dvd, im thinking star trek beyond as that has 7.1 surround sound to boot.  :)

Seen La La Land it was fun.
Seen Logan and it was awesome. Best (super)hero movie.
